Immerse yourself in a complete lavender experience by joining the Gourmet Girls Global Catering ( GGGC) of Cumberland and Island View Lavender in Union Bay for the Annual harvest luncheon.

For the very first time IVL and Gourmet Girls Gourmet Catering will joining with Comox Valley Hospice Society for a fundraising event .

A variety of health and wellness practitioners will be joining us for the day that will indulge all of the senses. Allow the healing magic of lavender oils relax you in this oceanside setting . In attendance for your relaxation will be Anna Rosa Bermudez -leading morning yoga -also offering hot stone massage , cranial sacral and more . Alicia Kent will be joining the team offering Jin Shin Do accu-pressure treatments. Christine will be offering chair massage. Heather McKenzie providing us with Tarot card readings.

Experience Lavender in the palm of your hands , in the refreshments that you drink, the air that you breathe and the delightful gourmet lavender infused meal , all while listening to the healing sounds of live crystal bowls by Mikeoula .

Oak Tree Lavender farm ( Island Lavender ) will be also be on hand to present to you there homemade lavender oils , using a copper still . Various Lavender products available for purchase.

Particpants will also be provided with a delightful Lavender gift basket lavender goodies and discount offers for wellness treatments., harvesting materials and more !

Bring your suit for a restorative swim in the lovely Baynes Sound.

Cooking with Lavender

At Island View Lavender we sell two varieties of Culinary Lavender . Hidcote and Provence.

Hidcote Lavender is the lavender of choice for international chefs .Hidcote Lavender is a sweet Angustifolia that is used for our Famous Lavender Jelly, lavender recipe cards and more. This wonderfully sweet Angustifolia blend of Hidcotes is great for using in lavender recipes where the colour is important in the presentation. Whenever you use this lavender to add colour to your recipe- use the juice of lemon, lime or orange. The citric acid brightens up the colour to a ruby lavender hue. Enjoy the flavour.

Provence Lavender is another of the angustifolias that is more a shade of washed denim. This lovely soft fragrent bud has a sweet but almost savory flavour. It is used in our Herbs of Provence mix, lavender shortbread cookies , teas and more . This lavender is preferred by many chefs around the world, especially those who have left un discovered the culinary delights a few other lavenders.

Remember that when using culinary lavenders- use the right kind of lavender and go sparingly . If you use too much or use the wrong kind your food can taste a bit like your grandmothers lavender soap. Dont let that scare you from sharing this delightful culinary experience with your guests...they will be wowed and delighted at the culinary, calming delight of lavender .

Thursday June 25th at 7:15 p.m.

Baynes Sound Garden Club visits Union Bay for a scrumptious visit to Island View Lavender .This evening tour will include a walk about the lavender identifying each type of lavender. Learning all about the different types of lavender and what you can create with its wonderful flower buds. The blossoms should be just reaching that purple haze on this lovely summer night .

A Magical story from a couple visitors to Island View Lavender

The Healing sounds of Mikeoula in the lavender

Mikeoula or known to some as Lady "M" .

Mikeoula is a master sound channeler and healer who plays twin keyboard synthesizer and the cyrstal bowls. She has been channeling sound since she was a young child. ( information below )

My experience with Mikeoula, has prompted me to bring the crystal bowls and her magical healing sounds to Island View Lavender in Union Bay. On Tuesday evening June 30th from 6:30- 9 p.m. in the lavender garden , 20 -woman will join in the sounds of healing and soul reaching harmony . We will join as the lavender is in full bloom and the essence of its calming and healing qualities are abound.

This July 2, Comox Valley residents can rediscover that community and put their local eating skills to the test when the Eat Real. Eat Local 30-Day Food Challenge kicks off.Our Big Earth Media Co. in partnership with Brambles Market and Hellmann’s Mayonnaise have teamed up to bring local residents this month-long event celebrating local food.Participants pick up their Food Challenge Passports at Brambles beginning June 22, register at Ourbigearth.com and begin the challenge on July 2. Registration is free of charge and open to the public.Throughout the month, participants will have the opportunity to check out four hot local food-focused restaurants. The weekends bring unique family farm experiences to explore and five provocative documentary films on food issues to spark discussion. Each week also features demonstrations, open houses and a weekly Wednesday-afternoon NeighbourWood Eats potluck picnic for families to get together and share local food creations
